Biography

Aliyar Gahraman oglu Mammad yarov was born in Baku in 1977. He completed active military service in 1999–2000.

In 2001–2004, he worked as an economist and senior economist at the No. 3 Supervision Division of the Department for Supervision of the Activities of Credit Institutions of the National Bank. In 2004–2006, he headed the Anti-Money Laundering Group at the External Supervision Division of the same department, and in 2006–2007, he served as head of the External Supervision Division. In 2008–2016, he held the positions of Deputy Director and Director at the Central Bank’s Department for Supervision of the Activities of Credit Institutions.

In May 2016, he was appointed Adviser to the Chairman of the Central Bank. From September 2017 to April 2019, he chaired the Board of Trustees of the Azerbaijan Deposit Insurance Fund. On 31 May 2022, by a decision of the Milli Majlis, he was appointed a member of the Management Board of the Central Bank, and from June 2022 to December 2024, he served as Deputy Chairman.

By the Presidential Order dated 4 December 2024, he was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank. In February 2012, he was awarded the “Progress” Medal for his services to the development of banking in Azerbaijan.
