Biography

Ali Ismayil oglu Ahmadov was born in Nakhchivan city in 1982.

In August 2004, he began working as an economist in the Monetary Analysis and Forecasting Division of the Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank, and in July 2005 he moved to the Financial Programming Division of the Economic Research and Forecasting Department. In 2006–2008, he worked as an economist and senior economist in the Research and Statistics Department of the National Bank; in 2008–2011, he was a senior analyst in the Risk Management Division of the Market Operations Department, and until August 2013 he served as head of that division.

From August 2013 to June 2014, he studied at Johns Hopkins University in the United States. In 2014–2015, he again served as head of the Risk Management Division; from June 2015, he was Deputy Director of the Market Operations Department – Head of Division; and from April 2016 to January 2020, he served as Director of that department. From January 2020 to November 2024, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Central Bank.

On November 7, 2024, by a decision of the Milli Majlis, he was appointed a member of the Management Board of the Central Bank, and by an Order of the President dated December 4, 2024, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank. In September 2019, he was awarded the “Progress” Medal for the 100th anniversary of central banking in Azerbaijan and for his services to the development of banking. He is married and has two children.
