The law counts years in order from the year of manufacture: for a 2015 car the 5th year is 2020, the 7th 2022, the 9th 2024, the 11th 2026, then every year. Verified 2026-09-20.

Cost in 2026
There are two payments. The state duty is 30 ₼ for motor vehicles and 15 ₼ for motorcycles, tractors and trailers (Law "On State Duty", article 18.65). The utilisation fee is paid at the inspection according to the vehicle's age and goes to the Utilisation Fund.

The fine and the 20-day rule
Driving a vehicle that has not passed inspection within the set period carries a fine of 50 ₼ (Code of Administrative Offences, article 339.1-1); it is the same for individuals, officials and legal entities. After the fine is imposed the vehicle must be inspected within 20 days; no second fine is imposed for the same act in that period. The offence is also recorded by cameras.

Documents and checking the date
- Driving licence (the document giving the right to drive the vehicle)
- Vehicle registration certificate (technical passport)
- If you are not the owner: a power of attorney or a document confirming the right of use
- Payment of the state duty and utilisation fee (a payment via asanpay.az shows in the electronic system; a paper receipt may be requested)

How much does a vehicle inspection cost in 2026?
The state duty is 30 ₼ for cars and other motor vehicles and 15 ₼ for motorcycles, tractors and trailers (Law "On State Duty", article 18.65). At the inspection a utilisation fee is also paid according to the vehicle's age: 4–10 years: 10 AZN, 10–20 years: 20 AZN, 20–30 years: 30 AZN, over 30 years: 40 AZN; there is no fee for vehicles under 4 years old. So one inspection of a 12-year-old car costs 50 ₼.

Where are the inspection centres in Baku and when are they open?
The Traffic Police Technical Inspection Centres in Zabrat (Sabunchu district, Zabrat–Mashtaga highway 5/10) and Lokbatan (Garadagh district, the road from the Lokbatan roundabout to Yeni Yasamal, next to the Sadarak shopping centre) have been open 24 hours a day since 25 November 2022. In the regions inspections are carried out by local Traffic Police departments.
