Each month's interest = balance × annual rate ÷ 12. Banks count interest by days (usually a 360-day year), so a bank's schedule may differ by a few qəpik.

Civil Code, 746-4: the debt can be repaid at any time. Compensation only if the contract says so: with more than a year left, at most 1% of the sum repaid; with a year or less, 0.5%. None when the insurance pays the debt.

How FİFD is calculated

Not part of FİFD: insurance and notary costs the law requires anyway, late penalties, services the borrower chooses.

Frequently asked questions

What is FİFD and how is it calculated?

The effective annual rate (FİFD) puts the whole cost of a loan — interest, the arrangement fee, insurance the loan requires — into one rate. By the Central Bank formula, find the monthly rate at which all payments, discounted, equal what you actually receive (the loan less the fee), then multiply by 12. With no fee, FİFD equals the nominal rate. Some sites compound the monthly rate and show 19.56% for a 18% loan — a bank will print 18% as its FİFD.

What is the monthly payment on 10,000 manats at 18% for 24 months?

With equal (annuity) payments, 499.24 manats a month and 11,981.78 manats over 24 months, of which 1,981.78 manats is interest. With a 1% fee the FİFD is 19.04%.

Annuity or differentiated payments — what is the difference?

An annuity is the same sum every month: more interest at first, less principal. Differentiated payments repay the principal in equal parts with interest on the balance — higher at first, less interest overall. Banks mostly use annuities for consumer loans.

Can I repay a loan early, and is there a penalty?

Under article 746-4 of the Civil Code you may repay all or part of the debt at any time without notice; interest and fees for the rest of the term fall away. Compensation is due only if the contract provides for it, and is at most 1% of the sum repaid (more than a year left) or 0.5% (a year or less).

Can I withdraw from a loan after signing?

Yes. Article 746-3 of the Civil Code lets you withdraw from a consumer loan within 30 days without giving a reason: you return the principal and the interest for those days; no fees beyond state duties.

What are loan interest rates in Azerbaijan?

According to the Central Bank, new manat loans averaged 18.83% as of 31 August 2026. Bank consumer loans differ by kind: credit cards 27%, household appliances 26%, cars 14% (30 June 2026). The refinancing rate is 6.5%.
