A 31-year-old woman, Khayala Karimova, has been detained in Aghsu on suspicion of deceiving citizens and seizing their funds through online fraud.

The Sheki regional group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the suspect presented herself as an employee of a government agency to make false promises to victims. Karimova allegedly convinced citizens that she could secure social benefits and subsidized housing in exchange for advance payments.

Through these illegal methods, she managed to obtain more than 8,000 manats from various individuals. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the facts, and relevant investigations are currently ongoing to determine the full extent of the fraudulent activities.

In recent years, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan has intensified its efforts to combat cybercrime and online fraud. Authorities consistently urge citizens to remain vigilant against individuals soliciting payments for government services through unofficial channels and to rely only on formal electronic portals or official state service centers for social assistance and housing programs.
