Zira player Dimitri Legbo spoke to sport24.az after his team beat Sumgayit 3-2 in the ninth round of the Misli Premier League.
Legbo said the match was difficult and that Sumgayit had played well. Although his team had taken a 2-0 lead, the opponents gained the psychological advantage, he said. “They also had a goal ruled out. The officials called offside. Despite that, we stayed in the game after it became 2-2. We will try not to repeat these mistakes,” the footballer said.
He said they had expected a difficult match against Sumgayit, describing their opponents as a team of good players who had secured convincing wins in recent games.
Legbo praised the standard of the Azerbaijani league. He said he had struggled after arriving in the country because he had not played for a long time, but now felt good and expected to grow in confidence with every match.
Position and transfer decision
The footballer said he played as a left-back as a child and later as a right and left winger. Legbo has played in several positions for Zira, but his main aim is to help the team. “I am ready to play wherever the head coach tells me,” he said.
He said he had spoken with the club’s sporting director before joining and that the director’s ideas influenced his decision. His compatriot Bayere Lue, Sumgayit player Cedric Badolo and other players he knew also shared positive views about the team and the country.
