Azerbaijani National Hero Ibad Huseynov detained in Georgia

National Hero Ibad Huseynov was stopped by Georgian customs officials during a visit to Tbilisi on Oct. 23, 2026, but was released with the embassy’s assistance.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reported, citing Lent.az, that his relatives shared the information on social media.
Huseynov, who travelled to Georgia the previous day, was detained by Georgian customs officials at the airport, according to the reports.
He was warned that he would not be allowed to enter the country.
Huseynov was released after the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia intervened.
Huseynov travelled to Tbilisi to attend an event scheduled to take place in Georgia on Oct. 23, 2026.
