Former Inter coach Fabio Capello criticized the team’s performance against Shakhtar in the UEFA Champions League league phase. The Milan side won the match 1-0.
Augusto scored the only goal in the third-round match in Milan on October 21, in the 77th minute. Inter defender Bastoni was sent off in the 68th minute after receiving a red card. The match kicked off at 11 p.m. Baku time.
Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport that Inter failed to create dangerous attacks in the first half, lacking aggression, movement and quick combinations. He said Inter usually dominate games, particularly at home, but stepped up their play only after the break this time.
Capello said he did not understand why the team always seemed to need an extra push to get going. He said Inter appeared to be playing at a low tempo and increased the pace only late in the match, adding that head coach Chivu needed to address the situation.
Inter have collected three points from three Champions League matches and sit 21st in the standings.
