During the first half of 2026, investigative bodies in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, including the prosecutor's office, interior ministry, and customs authorities, completed preliminary investigations into 64 criminal cases, subsequently referring them to the relevant courts for adjudication.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Prosecutor's Office, this update was delivered during an operational meeting held at the institution.
The report indicates that out of 599,000 manats in material damages caused to the state, as well as to legal and physical entities in cases investigated by the prosecutor's office, 484,204 manats—or 81%—have been successfully recovered.
Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Prosecutor Sanan Pashayev emphasized that the number of recorded criminal incidents in the autonomous republic has decreased compared to the same period last year. He noted that effective cooperation with interior and state security agencies has resulted in a 96.2% crime clearance rate.
Pashayev highlighted the importance of legal awareness campaigns, legislative explanations, and other preventive measures in reducing crime rates. He also stressed the necessity of further enhancing the quality of investigations across all law enforcement agencies.
The meeting also addressed the directives of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev regarding citizen engagement. It was noted that the Prosecutor General prioritizes the quality of work, strict oversight of the application review process, and a sensitive approach to citizen appeals.
Furthermore, the meeting reiterated the requirement for all prosecution staff to strictly adhere to service, executive, and labor discipline, as well as the "Code of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan."
Concluding the meeting, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Prosecutor expressed confidence that the region's prosecution authorities will continue to work in close coordination with other law enforcement agencies to maintain public-political stability and enhance the effectiveness of the fight against crime.
