A delegation led by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has travelled to the United States to attend a meeting of G20 foreign ministers.
"Operativ Məlumat Mərkəzi-OMM" reports that TASS published the information.
A Russian government aircraft landed at an airport in the capital of the U.S. state of Georgia, according to the report.
The G20 foreign ministers’ meeting, scheduled for Oct. 30-31, is being held ahead of the G20 summit in Miami on Dec. 14-15.
Lavrov’s visit is considered particularly significant. Except for the summit held in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2026, Russia’s foreign minister has travelled to the United States only to attend United Nations events in New York over the past seven years.
Lavrov’s most recent visit to the United States outside New York took place in December 2019, when he travelled to Washington for bilateral talks.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier said no decision had yet been made on whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would attend the G20 summit in Miami in person. U.S. President Donald Trump said he wanted Putin to attend and would welcome his presence at the summit.
