At a high-level meeting attended by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, CENTCOM commander Gen. Brad Cooper reportedly personally briefed President Donald Trump on scenarios for possible military action against Iran.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) published the information, citing unnamed U.S. officials.

WSJ said it is unusual for a CENTCOM commander to give a one-on-one briefing to the president, and the move could be seen as “a sign that Washington is nearing significant military strikes against Iran.”

Possible military operation plans have also raised serious concern in Congress. Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Murphy said in a post on the social media platform X that a group of senators had been briefed on plans to strike Iran.

Criticizing the plans, Murphy said: “This will lead to a devastating escalation and will likely spell the end of our commitment to the rule of law.”
