According to AnewZ’s live broadcast, the Saudi-led coalition intercepted and destroyed a drone on Friday that it said had been launched by Yemen’s Houthis, in the Mecca region. The incident came amid continued cross-border attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.
AnewZ, citing Reuters, reported that Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree called the coalition’s claim false. He said the group had not conducted any operations targeting Saudi territory.
Saree said Houthi operations target Saudi oil facilities and military bases.
The Iran-linked group has carried out several cross-border attacks against Saudi Arabia, but has repeatedly denied targeting Mecca and Medina, which are considered Islam’s two holiest cities.
Before the coalition’s statement, a series of drone and missile attacks had targeted Saudi military facilities, airports and energy infrastructure.
