Ukraine has reportedly conducted an attack on an Iranian merchant vessel in the Caspian Sea, according to reports emerging from the region.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the incident resulted in the death of one crew member, while two others sustained injuries.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of the strike, characterizing it as an act of aggression against a civilian vessel. Tehran stated that it reserves the right to take retaliatory measures, noting that the nature of its response is currently under discussion.
The Caspian Sea, a critical geopolitical waterway bordering Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, has historically been a zone of relative stability.
