Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the ministry posted about the meeting on its social media account on X.
Bayramov first congratulated Türkiye and its people on the 103rd anniversary of the Republic, the post said.
He said Azerbaijan’s priorities during its OTS chairmanship remain developing cooperation, preserving shared historical and cultural heritage, strengthening ties between the peoples, improving institutional efficiency, expanding economic and transport links, and enhancing the organization’s international standing. These priorities were reaffirmed at the summit held in Gabala in October 2025.
Against the backdrop of global conflicts, challenges to international law and weaknesses in the global security architecture, Bayramov stressed the importance of mutual trust, shared interests and solidarity. He also highlighted the need to strengthen political dialogue and security coordination, including through a meeting of secretaries of security councils in Baku.
Bayramov drew attention to the proposed adoption of a 2027 roadmap for joint defence-industry production and technological cooperation. He also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investment, transport connectivity, energy, finance, digital development, innovation and new technologies.
He also noted the importance of humanitarian and cultural initiatives, including Turkic World Week marking the centenary of the First Turkological Congress, the first meeting in Shusha of heads of state bodies responsible for religious affairs, and the seventh meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations in Baku.
The foreign minister underscored the importance of joint diplomatic efforts in New York to secure observer status for the OTS at the UN General Assembly.
Bayramov also highlighted the OTS+ format as a way to create new opportunities for cooperation with third countries and international organizations. He called for effective implementation of decisions, sustained participation by national institutions, and a stronger role for the OTS Secretariat in monitoring progress and coordinating activities.
He concluded by reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to continuing its efforts to improve the organization’s efficiency and make cooperation more productive.
