Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov chaired an informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA81) and delivered an extensive speech.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the information was posted on the official “X” account of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his remarks, Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the deepening unity among Turkic states, rooted in shared origins and a rich history. He said strengthening multifaceted cooperation was a strategic necessity amid rapidly changing challenges worldwide.
Bayramov provided details of the key achievements made during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Organization following the decisions and initiatives adopted at the Gabala Summit. The minister thanked member states for their active participation in events held in Azerbaijan. The speech highlighted events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress as a significant milestone, given its invaluable contribution to the study of the language, history and cultural heritage of Turkic peoples.
It was also noted that recent meetings in Baku involving secretaries of the Security Councils of OTS member states, the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards and leading national analytical centers clearly demonstrated the expanding scope of the cooperation agenda.
Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the importance of increasing the OTS’s international standing and said that obtaining observer status for the Organization at the UN General Assembly was one of the common key goals.
The foreign minister reiterated the strategic importance of strengthening transport links and transit infrastructure across the Turkic region for regional resilience and connectivity. He said expanding practical and sector-specific cooperation in trade, energy, information and communication technologies, science, technology and culture, as well as creating direct opportunities for businesspeople and peoples, remained a priority.
In conclusion, Jeyhun Bayramov wished success to brotherly Türkiye, which will host the COP31 conference in Antalya and the 13th OTS Summit in Ankara, and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s continued support in this framework.
The meeting successfully concluded with the adoption of the Statement of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States.
