Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), in Istanbul to discuss regional security challenges.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the informal meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers, as reported by the MFA of Azerbaijan.
During the discussions, the parties focused on the current regional security situation, specifically addressing the threats posed by Iranian drone attacks against Azerbaijan. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of further strengthening coordination and developing practical cooperation among Turkic-speaking states to counter emerging regional threats.
The Organization of Turkic States, formerly known as the Turkic Council, serves as an intergovernmental organization established to promote comprehensive cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations. In recent years, Azerbaijan has played a pivotal role in enhancing the organization's strategic depth, focusing on transit-logistics potential and collective security frameworks within the Eurasian region. This meeting underscores Baku's commitment to fostering a unified response to security provocations while strengthening the bonds of the Turkic world.
