Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has canceled a planned visit to Ukraine because of illness.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Ukrainian sources and Tasr.sk.
“According to information from the Slovak government office, Marek Eštok, state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, will represent Fico in Ukraine,” the report said.
A Slovak business delegation has also traveled to Ukraine.
Fico was scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s new Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and other officials.
The Carpathian Initiative summit, which will continue through Sunday, brings together representatives of eight Carpathian countries — Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine. It aims to deepen regional cooperation in several areas, including security, the economy and cross-border cooperation.
