US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has travelled to India.

Rubio is scheduled to meet government and business representatives during a two-day visit to Mumbai and Jamnagar, in western India.
During the visit, the US secretary of state is expected to meet Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and billionaire Mukesh Ambani, chairman of the board of Reliance Industries, one of the world’s largest oil refining companies.
Rubio has arrived in Mumbai, the country’s financial centre. A meeting with Jaishankar is planned there.
Rubio earlier said one factor behind the decision to suspend the imposition of tariffs was India’s efforts to reach a trade agreement. According to the US secretary of state, India is diversifying its energy supplies by reducing its dependence on Russian oil. However, the country continues to buy millions of barrels of oil from Russia each day.
