Sabah lose 4-0 to Manchester United in Champions League opener

Sabah opened their UEFA Champions League league-phase campaign with a defeat.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Azerbaijani champions visited Manchester United in England.

The match at Old Trafford ended in a 4-0 victory for the Red Devils. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 27th minute, followed by Bruno Fernandes in the 42nd minute, Benjamin Sesko in the 45th minute and Lisandro Martinez in the 68th minute.

Sabah will play their second league-phase match against Czech side Slavia Prague in Baku on October 13.

The Champions League league phase brings together Europe’s leading clubs in a single standings format, with each team playing a series of matches against different opponents. Sabah’s home fixture against Slavia Prague will provide the Azerbaijani champions with an opportunity to collect their first points in the competition.
