A new park covering about 10 hectares is being developed on 28 May Street in Baku’s Nasimi district. The site, formerly occupied by a railway car repair facility, is planned to include extensive green spaces, artificial lakes, an amphitheater, cycling paths and sports and recreation areas.
"Operativ Məlumat Mərkəzi-OMM" reports, citing Khazar Khabar, that the project was designed with the participation of local and foreign architects. Construction has already begun on an underground car park at the site.
The car park is expected to accommodate about 300 vehicles.
What facilities will the park offer?
The new park will provide recreation facilities for people of different age groups. Under the project, trees and shrubs will be planted, with flower arrangements and extensive green spaces created.
Plans also include artificial lakes, an amphitheater, cycling paths and sports and recreation facilities. The park is also expected to provide safe and convenient pedestrian access.
Road infrastructure in the area is also being changed
Huseyn Rasulbeyov Street, which runs through the park site, is to be rerouted to the park’s northwestern section. Plans also call for a pedestrian overpass at the intersection of 28 May and Huseyn Rasulbeyov streets to provide access to the park.
Reports circulating among residents that a new building would be constructed at the site have been described as inaccurate. The main project at the location is the park and the construction of an underground car park.
