Azerbaijan was among the countries that submitted a bid to host the 2027 Spanish Super Cup. Manuel Lalinde, director general of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), spoke about the bids at a forum organized by MARCA and DAZN.
Lalinde said bids to stage the tournament in 2027 had come from the United States, China, Azerbaijan, Morocco and Qatar. Organizers considered holding the competition in another country because the Asian Cup will take place in Saudi Arabia, the tournament’s traditional host, next year.
Istanbul was ultimately selected to host the 2027 Spanish Super Cup. The semi-finals will be played on February 2 and 3, with the final scheduled for February 6.
