Former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has commented on Harry Kane winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or, saying he disagreed with the decision.
“I can’t understand it at all. Kane isn’t even the best player in the Bundesliga; Michael Olise is the best in the German league. Kane wasn’t England’s best player at the 2026 World Cup, either. What is the basis for giving him the award? Only the goals he scored? It would be like Ferran Torres winning the Ballon d’Or after scoring 50 goals for PSG and winning Ligue 1 and the French Cup. I would have preferred Yamal to win it rather than Kane,” Actu Foot quoted Nasri as saying in a post on X.
Kane won the German Super Cup, the German Cup and the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich in the 2025/2026 season. With England, he also won a bronze medal at the 2026 World Cup.
The England striker scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for Bayern Munich and the national team between August 2025 and July 2026.
