Former Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has discussed Manchester United’s situation after the club lost 4-1 to Como in the third round of the Champions League league phase. He said the club needed the right people to bring about change.
The match took place on October 21. Paz scored in the second and 57th minutes for Como, with Douvikas netting in the 49th minute and Ramon in the 76th. Manchester United’s only goal came from Zirkzee in the 90+1st minute.
“Manchester United are still Manchester United. Liverpool went through a similar period, and it took a long time to return to their former level. You need the right people for that,” Schmeichel said.
He noted that Brendan Rodgers had first begun to improve Liverpool’s situation, and that Rafael Benitez had also managed the team before him. According to Schmeichel, Rodgers laid the foundations, after which the team’s development accelerated with Jurgen Klopp’s arrival, turning Liverpool into the club it is known as today. BBC reported Schmeichel’s remarks.
