President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of Sunbeverage LLC’s non-alcoholic beverage production facility in Jabrayil district on November 6.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that Tahir Gozal, chairman of the supervisory board of Azersun Holding, briefed the head of state and the first lady on the facility.
The company said it will produce carbonated and still water, iced tea, fruit-based, vitamin-enriched and low-calorie drinks at the facility, established by the holding in the East Zangezur economic district. The 10-hectare facility has an annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes. The products are intended for both domestic and export markets. Modern Italian-made equipment has been installed at the plant. The production process includes water purification, syrup preparation, mixing, carbonation, filling products into plastic bottles and clear food containers, capping, labeling and packaging.
The project has a total cost of 70 million manat. In addition to private funds and bank loans, it received a 5 million manat concessional loan with support from the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund, which operates under the Ministry of Economy. A guarantee and interest subsidy mechanism was also used for an additional 5 million manat loan. The facility will provide permanent jobs for 300 people.
The facility is expected to contribute to the development of the food industry in the East Zangezur economic district and to employment in the area. The project is also intended to help increase Azerbaijan’s export potential.
