A new station of the Baku Metro, currently under construction at 194 Jalil Mammadguluzadeh Street in the Nasimi district, will be officially named "20 September".
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decision aims to commemorate the date of September 20, 2023, which marks the restoration of Azerbaijan's state sovereignty across its entire territory. This naming initiative was proposed by President Ilham Aliyev.
The Baku Metro, which serves as the backbone of public transportation in the capital, has been undergoing significant expansion and modernization in recent years. The naming of this station serves as a symbolic tribute to the country's territorial integrity and the historic events of 2023, which saw the full restoration of Azerbaijani control over the Garabagh region.
