Two men have been charged with national security offences after an incident last month at RAF Fairford, a British military air base used by the US Air Force, the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said on Tuesday, Anadolu Agency reported.
Mohmed Abdulkarim and Nouman Essghir, both 24, were charged under the National Security Act 2023 after an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing.
The incident took place in late September at the base in Gloucestershire, southwestern England, and prompted a major counterterrorism investigation.
Frank Ferguson, chief crown prosecutor for the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said prosecutors had decided to bring charges following what he described as a “high-profile incident” involving RAF Fairford.
A third suspect, a 25-year-old UK-Iranian national, was released without charge.
