President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Nasimi Gardens complex in Shamakhi on Sept. 17.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Presidential Assistant Anar Alakbarov briefed the head of state and the First Lady on the facilities created at the complex.

The Nasimi Gardens complex is a newly opened venue in Shamakhi district designed to help residents and visitors spend their leisure time.

The complex was built to contribute to the development of tourism in Shamakhi district, enhance the region’s tourism potential, preserve the area’s natural features, and create a comfortable environment for family recreation and leisure activities.

Operating as a multifunctional tourism, cultural and recreational project, the Nasimi Gardens complex includes various leisure facilities, family entertainment infrastructure, artworks on different themes and catering venues.

The three-story main building serves as the complex’s information and tourism center. Visitors can receive information there about the venues, tourist routes and services available at Nasimi Gardens. The building also houses the Capybara Cafe and a souvenir shop, offering visitors opportunities to spend their time comfortably.

A museum with a rich exhibition reflecting Shamakhi’s ancient and modern history and cultural heritage has been established in another, four-story building. The facility also includes the main restaurant hall, an event hall and a spacious terrace.

The complex includes themed houses built in the style of Hobbit homes under the Magic Village concept, the Honey Nest cafe, which is expected to be particularly popular with children, a large playground and a 9-meter observation tower. The houses have been equipped with all essential living facilities and are intended for year-round stays by tourists.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan’s first and only specialized capybara farm, Capybara Land, operates here. Visitors can see, touch and feed the animals.

More than 100 works and installations created by Azerbaijani and foreign artists and sculptors are displayed across the complex. The site also features a contemporary monument, or installation, dedicated to the prominent Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi. Standing 21 meters tall, the monumental installation is visible from many parts of Shamakhi.

A village consisting of 20 cottages, a reception building and a swimming pool has also been established at the Nasimi Gardens complex.

A mosque also operates at the complex.

More than 150,000 trees and plants have been planted on the site, including pine trees, vineyards, various ornamental plants and paulownia, considered one of the fastest-growing tree species in the world.
