The “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) project will enable Armenia to establish links with third countries through Azerbaijan’s territory and infrastructure.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said this.
The TRIPP project could be launched before a peace treaty is signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
He recalled that the text of the peace treaty has already been initialed and that both countries officially state they do not question its contents. Despite the absence of a signed agreement, practical peace has already been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he said.
“Therefore, peace is needed to launch TRIPP, and it already exists,” Mirzoyan stressed.
Mirzoyan noted that the program’s significance is not limited to economic benefits. In his assessment, developing economic ties between Armenia, Azerbaijan and third countries could also contribute to strengthening peace, stability and security.
He said TRIPP would also enable Armenia to develop domestic railway links and become a hub for East-West communications. The project could include railways, highways, optical cables and, possibly, oil and gas pipelines. He stressed that their construction and operation should be based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and jurisdiction.
