“Lithuania’s Defense Ministry considers it appropriate to establish a state holding company for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).”
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas made the remarks.
He said a state holding company bringing together different areas of production was needed to manufacture FPV drones, drone interceptors, long- and medium-range UAVs, as well as reconnaissance drones.
According to the minister, the state would act as financier and supervisor within the structure, allowing public funds to be allocated in a targeted manner.
Kaunas said the holding company would enable defense industry enterprises, research institutions and universities to combine their efforts.
“We need a technological breakthrough not only in production, but also in innovation,” the defense minister stressed.
He also said Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius fully supported the plan to establish a state holding company for UAV production.
