Lithuania plans to provide 223 million euros in military assistance to Ukraine this year as part of its ongoing commitment to regional security.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing TASS, that the funding is part of a long-term strategy to bolster Kyiv's defensive capabilities against external aggression.

Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that Lithuania's total military aid to Ukraine has now surpassed 1 billion dollars. "For the current year, we have allocated 265 million dollars (approximately 223 million euros), and these funds will be directed toward three priority areas," the minister noted.

According to the minister, the financial package will be utilized for the procurement of air defense systems and artillery ammunition, as well as supporting the domestic production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within Ukraine. In 2024, the Lithuanian government committed to allocating at least 0.25% of its annual GDP to support Ukraine's defense needs, which currently amounts to approximately 190 million euros per year.

Lithuania remains one of the most vocal supporters of Ukraine within the European Union and NATO. Since the escalation of the conflict, Vilnius has consistently provided not only military hardware but also medical treatment for wounded soldiers and training for Ukrainian military personnel. This latest aid package underscores the Baltic nation's strategic position that supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity is essential for the broader stability of Eastern Europe and the Baltic region.
