Belgium plans to deliver 10 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by the end of 2026.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever made the remarks.

“Ukraine needs combat-ready fighter jets, and we can contribute in this area. We will deliver 10 fighters this year,” he said.

The Belgian prime minister said the military equipment delivery schedule had been changed because of delays in deliveries of US-made F-35 fighter jets to Belgium. The aircraft are due to replace the F-16s in the Belgian Air Force fleet.

Belgium pledged in 2024 to deliver its first two F-16s to Ukraine, followed by the phased transfer of the remaining aircraft that were fit for service.

In June 2026, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken said that seven F-16s were due to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year. However, the transfer process has not begun because of delays in F-35 deliveries.
