Iran has received no response from Saudi Arabia or Yemen’s Houthis to its offer to mediate talks aimed at ending fighting between them, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a televised interview aired on Tuesday.
According to AnewZ, Araghchi offered to help organize dialogue in an interview with Iraq’s Al Ekhbariya television channel. The Houthis, who are allied with Iran, intensified their attacks on Saudi Arabia earlier this month.
Araghchi also commented on the possibility of Egypt joining Saudi Arabia in the war against the Houthis.
Egypt has said it is ready to provide the support Saudi Arabia needs to protect its security. The possibility has raised concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East.
A parliamentary vote on the possible participation of Egyptian forces in an operation against the Houthis has been postponed until October 26. Egypt has one of the largest armies in the Arab world.
