Demolition of residential homes has begun in Bina settlement as part of the restoration of the Bakikhanov-Bina-Gala railway line. Compensation payments to property owners affected by the construction project are continuing. Residents say they are being paid 1,200 manats per square meter of residential property.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing AzTV, that some residents said they had accepted the compensation and used the funds to buy other homes.
One resident said he received 1,200 manats for each square meter of his home, as well as 30 to 50 manats for trees in the yard, depending on their type. He said no separate payment was made for the land itself.
Other residents also said they accepted the proposed amount and found new homes after receiving compensation.
300 property owners registered
An official representative of the project said 30% of the design work for the Bakikhanov-Bina-Gala railway line had been completed.
A total of 300 property owners have been registered in connection with homes, non-residential properties and land plots located in the railway’s protection zone and affected by construction.
Relevant protocols have been signed with more than 250 of them, while more than 200 property owners have received compensation. Work in this area is continuing, the representative said.
The railway reconstruction is intended to improve transport links in the area. Reaching agreements with property owners, paying compensation and protecting residents’ rights remain among the key issues during the project’s implementation.
