Biography
Kamran Bayram oglu Aliyev was born on 18 November 1965 in the city of Balakan.
After graduating from Irkutsk State University in 1987, he was admitted to the prosecution bodies by assignment: he worked as a trainee investigator at the Chita Transport Prosecutor's Office subordinate to the Transport Prosecutor's Office of Trans-Baikal Region of the Russian Federation, and subsequently as a senior investigator at that prosecutor's office and at the Transport Prosecutor's Office of Trans-Baikal Region. In 1990–1993, he studied as a full-time postgraduate student at the Research Institute of the former USSR Prosecutor General's Office, while also working there as a research fellow.
After transferring to the Azerbaijani prosecution service, he served as a prosecutor in the Personnel Department, head of the Scientific-Educational Centre, investigator and senior investigator in the Investigation Department and the Department for Investigation of Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office, assistant and senior assistant to the Prosecutor General, and head of the Department for the Defence of State Prosecution. Since 2007, he served as head of the Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General; by order of the President dated 5 August 2014, he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General and head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption.
By order of the President dated 1 May 2020, he was appointed Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and by an order dated 1 May 2025, he was reappointed to this position; on 23 November 2021, he was awarded the highest special rank of State Justice Counsellor, 1st class. He is Chairman of the Board of the Prosecutor General's Office, Vice-President of the International Association of Prosecutors, a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to GRECO, and the national coordinator in the OECD Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He has been awarded the “Azerbaijan Flag” Order (2008), the 2nd class (2018) and 1st class (2025) “For Service to the Fatherland” Orders, and the jubilee medals “100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923–2023)” (2024) and “30th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan (1995–2025)” (2026). He is married and has two children and four grandchildren.
