Traffic congestion and reduced road capacity have been observed at the intersections of Binagadi Highway with Mehdiabad Road and Nijat Mustafayev Street, particularly during peak hours.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
Officials stated that changes are being implemented to the traffic organization in the area to improve the current situation. The project was reviewed and approved by the Transport Coordination Council.
Under the new project, traffic will be channeled through updated road signs and lane markings. Plans include increasing the number of traffic lanes at intersections and restricting movement from Attarlar Street to right-turns only. These measures are designed to increase the road's throughput capacity and minimize conflict points for drivers.
Additionally, the traffic light timing will be optimized to extend the green phase for the main traffic flow, ensuring more efficient and uninterrupted movement of vehicles.
The Binagadi district is one of the most densely populated areas in Baku, serving as a critical transit point for commuters traveling between the northern suburbs and the city center. The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport frequently conducts such infrastructure optimizations across the capital to address the growing demands of urban mobility and to enhance road safety standards in Azerbaijan.
