Israeli media reported that Israeli forces shot and killed two Palestinians during a shooting near Hebron on Friday. Israeli officials said armed men opened fire on Israelis, injuring five people.
According to Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency medical service, two of the injured are in serious condition.
After the shooting, troops closed several Palestinian villages near Hebron and continued security operations. Israeli forces also set up a cordon around Palestinian communities near the city, the Haaretz newspaper reported.
The incident came amid rising tensions in the West Bank during the olive harvest season. Palestinian officials say attacks by Israeli settlers and forces in the area have increased in recent weeks.
