Sabayil player stays on despite receiving two yellow cards

A notable refereeing incident occurred in the Azerbaijan Cup second qualifying round match between Sabayil and Zira. Home player Samuel Nongoh continued playing until the final whistle despite receiving two yellow cards.

The Cameroonian was booked in the 68th minute and again in the 80th. Match referee Sabuhi Bayramov did not show Nongoh a red card after the second booking.

Under the rules, a player must be sent off after receiving a second yellow card. Despite this, Nongoh continued to play for Sabayil for the remainder of the match.

Regulation time ended 1-1. The teams scored one goal each in extra time to make it 2-2. Zira advanced to the next round after winning the penalty shootout 3-2.
