Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said Harry Kane, winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or, is not the greatest footballer in England’s history. He said the title belongs to Bobby Charlton.
Carragher said Charlton was a world champion and won the European Cup with Manchester United. The former midfielder was also the leading scorer for both his club and the England national team for many years.
“For me, the greatest English footballer of all time will always be Bobby Charlton. Although the current generation of the England national team is a ‘golden age’ for us, it has not won any trophies. Bobby Charlton achieved that,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
