Barcelona will appeal a €602 fine imposed over talks with Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. Marca reports that the Catalan club does not want to pay the fine and says it did not breach any rules.
According to the publication, Barcelona considers the fine “ridiculous.” However, the club’s objection is not about the amount: it says it is refusing to pay on moral and principled grounds and maintains that its conduct complied with the rules.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) previously ordered Barcelona to pay the fine following a complaint by Atletico Madrid. The Catalan club is accused of failing to inform Atletico Madrid while holding talks with Alvarez. Under the rules, a player’s club must be notified of such talks.
Barcelona intends to appeal the decision.
