Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane has spoken about his chances of winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or. He attended the awards ceremony in London.
Kane told DAZN he felt a little nervous ahead of the ceremony. “I won’t lie, I’m a little nervous. This is different from playing in a match because not everything is under my control here. It’s a special occasion. I’m trying to take it all in and enjoy it. If I won this award, it would be an incredibly proud moment,” he said.
The England international said the season just ended had been the best of his career. Kane said he had won three trophies with Bayern Munich and that the team had come close to reaching the Champions League final and the World Cup semi-finals. He said winning both tournaments would have guaranteed him the Ballon d’Or.
Other nominees included Kane, Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Fabian Ruiz, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (PSG), Lamine Yamal and Rodri (Barcelona), Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid), Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) and Erling Haaland (Manchester City).
