Xankendi head coach Royal Najafov has discussed the team’s situation ahead of its match against Ganjabasar in the second qualifying round of the Azerbaijan Cup. He said the squad is small and four players are dealing with injuries.
As a result, Xankendi will rotate its lineup for the cup match and give less-used players a chance to play, Najafov said. He stressed the importance of helping players short of match practice improve their form.
The head coach said the team is focused primarily on the First League. “Our main goal is to stay in the league. We are focused on the championship. We also have many players with injuries or minor knocks. We do not want to risk their health by fielding them in the cup,” Najafov said.
Xankendi will face Ganjabasar at the stadium of the Shamakhi Olympic Sports Complex on October 29. The match will kick off at 14:00.

Royal Najafov was appointed Xankendi head coach on October 8. At the time, the team had one point from its first three First League matches, with one draw and two defeats.
