Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappe has set a new record in French football in the Ballon d’Or voting. The Touchline reported the news on social media, citing France Football data.
The 27-year-old became the first French player to finish in the award’s top 10 in nine consecutive ceremonies. The run covers 2017–2026, excluding the 2020 award, which was cancelled.
Mbappe has surpassed three-time Ballon d’Or winner Michel Platini, as well as Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry, Jean-Pierre Papin and Karim Benzema in this record.
The 70th-anniversary Ballon d’Or ceremony is being held today, October 26, at the London Palladium theatre in London.
