Khankendi have made a change of head coach in Azerbaijan’s First League. After parting ways with Zaur Hajiyev, the Garabagh side have put the team in the charge of Royal Najafov.
The change follows the team’s results in the first three rounds of the championship. Khankendi collected just one point, drawing once and losing twice.
Speaking to Sportinfo.az, Royal Najafov said the squad had quality players but had failed to make a successful start to the season. He said the immediate priority was to bring the team together and turn the situation around.
According to the coach, Khankendi’s main objective is to retain its place in the First League. Once the team achieves that goal, it will aim to compete higher up the table. Najafov added that the club also plans to challenge for promotion to the Premier League in future seasons.
