Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has reacted to reports that fuel prices in the United States had reached a record level.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Iranian media, that Ghalibaf responded to a Bloomberg report saying that the price of a gallon of fuel at a gas station in San Diego, California, had risen to $9.99, while electronic signs could not display higher figures.
In response, Ghalibaf shared a video from the popular American animated series “The Simpsons.”
The clip ironically shows a character declaring that fuel is practically free after prices reach double digits and electronic signs are unable to display the figures.
Fuel prices in the United States vary by state, city and gas station, and are influenced by crude oil prices, refining costs, taxes and market conditions. Electronic price signs at some stations have a limited number of digits, meaning they may be unable to display prices above a specified threshold.
