Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and head of the country's negotiation team, has outlined official Tehran's foreign policy priorities. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the IRNA news agency, Ghalibaf stated that Iran continues to prioritize diplomacy in resolving international issues.
However, the parliamentary speaker issued a stern warning to opposing parties. He emphasized that if the other sides fail to adhere to their commitments, Iran's countermeasures will be inevitable.
Ghalibaf's statement, asserting that "we prioritize diplomacy, but we also know how to speak other languages," is being interpreted as a signal that Tehran is prepared to take stricter and more decisive measures if necessary.
The Iranian parliament, known as the Islamic Consultative Assembly, plays a pivotal role in shaping the country's legislative agenda and foreign policy stance. Ghalibaf's remarks come amidst ongoing regional tensions and complex negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program and international sanctions, reflecting the country's dual-track approach of maintaining diplomatic channels while asserting its readiness to defend its national interests through more assertive means.
