Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, head of the Iranian delegation, has arrived in Muscat, the capital of Oman, for an official visit.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Ghalibaf held a meeting with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman during the visit.
The discussions centered on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations, expanding regional cooperation, and addressing issues of mutual interest. A key topic of the negotiations was the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint for global energy supplies. The parties explored the possibility of establishing a joint committee to ensure regional security and coordinate maritime activities.
Furthermore, the sides exchanged views on maintaining regional stability and fostering further economic development. The Iranian delegation, led by Ghalibaf, also discussed prospects for implementing joint projects with Omani officials.
Oman has historically maintained a unique position in regional diplomacy, often acting as a mediator between Iran and Western powers. This visit underscores the ongoing efforts by Tehran to deepen its diplomatic and economic ties with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members, particularly in the context of maritime security and regional trade corridors.
