Ganjabasar beat Khankendi 3-2 in the second qualifying round of the Azerbaijan Cup. Ganjabasar head coach Elhad Naziri said after the match that he was satisfied with his players’ performance.
Naziri said his team had shown the kind of football it wanted to play, particularly in the second half. The coach said they had made major changes to the starting lineup, replacing 90% of the squad, to improve the players’ physical and tactical readiness gradually. He said this was why they had divided the match into two halves.
The head coach said the team had conceded goals as a result of its own mistakes and would work to address them. He said the players were more responsible in league matches and wanted to achieve a target they had set for themselves.
Naziri said his team had not allowed the opponents to play in the second half. He said players lying on the pitch to run down the clock and protests against refereeing decisions had affected the intensity of the match. Nevertheless, he said, his players had delivered the result he wanted. He congratulated them and said he was proud of the team, while also thanking the management and supporters. Naziri added that the management constantly supported the team and that the players were working to repay that effort.
