France has appointed a new ambassador to Armenia, marking a change in its diplomatic representation in the country.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenian media reports, the new French Ambassador to Armenia, Florian Escudie, officially assumed his duties on Saturday.
Escudie was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia by a decree signed by French President Emmanuel Macron on August 18. He succeeds the outgoing ambassador, Olivier Decottignies, who has completed his tenure in the region.
Diplomatic relations between France and Armenia have historically been characterized by close political and cultural ties. The appointment of a new ambassador comes at a time when France continues to play an active role in regional diplomatic discussions, often engaging with both Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the normalization of relations in the South Caucasus.
