An Israeli airstrike on a residential building in southern Lebanon has killed five members of the same family, including a child. The strike targeted the El-Jebel neighborhood of Jibchit town overnight, causing significant destruction to the residential area.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Lebanon's official NNA news agency, civil defense teams worked throughout the night to recover the bodies of the Behjet family from the rubble. Additional military operations were reported in the towns of Shema and Naqoura near Tyre, where explosions were heard and Israeli drones were observed patrolling the coastline. Further strikes on Hanin in the Bint Jbeil district have caused extensive damage to local infrastructure and the power grid.

The escalation follows a period of intensive military operations that began on March 2, leading to more than 2,500 deaths and the displacement of over one million people, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. While US President Donald Trump recently announced a three-week extension to the temporary ceasefire that took effect on April 17, hostilities persist. The Israeli military continues its operations in the south, while Hezbollah has launched retaliatory strikes, citing ongoing violations of the truce agreement.
