Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic failed to reach the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Basel, Switzerland. The 39-year-old, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, lost 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 6-7 (5-7) to Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in the second round.
Djokovic, currently ranked 12th in the ATP rankings, let the advantage slip against Struff, who is ranked 47th. The 36-year-old German defeated the Serbian for the first time in his career. Struff had lost their previous eight matches in a row.
Struff will face Portugal’s Nuno Borges for a place in the semi-finals.
